Tips to Enhance Coding Skills

This morning, a former on the job trainee asked me to give him some tips on how to improve his coding skill. I would like to share this to everyone, especially those who loves programming. Some of the thoughts are not my original idea, some of these I got from books, friends, teachers and colleagues who help me improve my coding styles in programming.

Tip No. 1: Think like an artist. Everytime you put your fingers to the keyboard to start designing a program think as if you are painting a masterpiece – a wonderful work of art. Just like an artist, your masterpiece should be clean and well-polished. Avoid unnecessary lines, lines should be well aligned, remove complicated codes that makes your code unreadable by spectators.

Tip No. 2: Be insecure to yourself. Don’t be too confident with your code, even a master in programming has the possibility of overlooking some errors in his code. So I suggest reading your code very well, understanding how you code it and making improvements as needed.

Tip No. 3: Be a perfectionist. It’s true that nobody is perfect but if you try to be perfect, you are pushing yourself to be on its best.

Happy Coding Everyone : )

VMware Connect2013

Similar to a complex computer system, virtual machines like vSphere, also have the possibility of failure. Therefore, it becomes crucial for data administrators to have data security and system recovery features in place to be able to secure and recover database contents/data that are damaged or lost when problems occur.

Last Tuesday, March 12, 2013 me and my colleagues went to Makati to attend another seminar hosted by VMware with the help of its partners like Trend Micro, Cisco, Riverbed, NetApp and others. In comparison with the last year seminar, which we also attended, where they introduce their product called vSphere, this time they discussed the tools that can be use to add security and recovery features on their product. They also demonstrated how to migrate from old operating system to the latest one without interrupting the user on what he/she is doing and saving all the data and settings of that computer in a simple and hassle free steps. They also discussed about the advantages of using Cloud as data centers. Their partners also introduces their product that backed up VMware to achieve its goal.

The experience is great, we learned a lot from the discussions and they full our stomach with tasteful food which they serve from start to finish. J

They ended the program at 6:00 PM after giving out prizes like Ipad on the raffle draws.
